American Sourced. American Made. Good Enough To Eat.

At Healthy Pets Northwest, we are delighted to offer dog chews and treats from Simply American Chews, a locally-owned company. Simply American Chews proudly works with American farmers to bring your best friend, your dog, the best chews and treats possible. Their products are minimally processed to the highest standards of food safety without using bleach or any other chemicals.

Some of our favorite products from Simply American Chews include their Chicken Bites and Tripe Bites. Crispy and delicious, the Chicken Bites feature one single ingredient, U.S. dehydrated chicken, non-gmo with no preservatives. Likewise, the Tripe Bites are made from 100% U.S. dehydrated beef tripe.

If your dog prefers a longer lasting chew, we suggest the Natural Cut Beef Femur Bone. It provides hours of gnawing fun.

What Are the Benefits of Feeding Canned Food to Dogs?
from Lotus Natural Food for Pets

Many dog parents are not aware of the many great benefits of adding a top quality canned food as part or all of their dog’s daily diet. A top notch can food will provide lots of intercelluar water directly from the muscle tissue of the meat. This intercelluar water is great way to keep your dog hydrated and help prevent issues like urinary tract crystals or kidney stones.

Lotus Turkey Stew for dogs made with USDA inspected turkey breasts and turkey thighs.

Two good examples of wonderful can foods are Lotus Just Juicy Beef Shank (one of Meadow's favorites) and Pork Shoulder which both provide about 76% moisture with an exceptional protein level of 14%, only 3% fat and a very low Ash level of 2%. And just how was Lotus able to achieve these exceptional nutritional numbers? Quite honestly, Lotus does not add a bunch of "water for processing." They use the natural broth from cooking their cuts of USDA inspected and passed beef shank and pork shoulder instead of water to make gravies. They also use a lot of meat - 70% of these very lean cuts of meat. This is why the protein level is high and the fat is low. Lotus uses boneless cuts of meat and does not add any ground bone to these recipes - this keeps the ash, calcium and phosphorus right in line for both small and large breed dogs.

Great canned recipes like Lotus and Just Juicy dog stews are wonderful for helping control the sugar and the weight of diabetic dogs because of their low percentage of carbs (5.00% to 6.50%) and their low fat levels - 5.0%. Finally, because of their low level of ash, calcium and phosphorus these recipes can help prevent urinary tract issues and issues with large breed dog's bones growing too fast.

"Meet & Sniff" Adoption Event
Saturday, March 18

Underdog Railroad Rescue (URR) will be at our Alberta Arts District store with some cute little dogs looking for homes. URR works directly with rescue groups in Southern California to rescue dogs that are on their last days in high-kill shelters. Because URR dogs are in Foster Homes, they get to know the dogs personalities and needs. Since they know the dogs well and how they do in a home environment, URR can do a great job in matching families with the right dog, and the right family for the dog!
